At their presentation at GDC Austin Bungie’s Joseph Staten may have dropped a hint towards their next title during his “Writing the Whirlwind talk. Over the course of his presentation State mentioned that Bungie spent 10 years creating a universe [Halo] that players only spent 6 – 8 hrs immersed in per title. Answering a fellow attendee’s question Staten responded “Wouldn't it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you?”
Could this mean that Bungie is crafting a persistent massive multiplayer title? This might not be so far fetched considering Microsoft flirted with the idea of an MMO style game set in the Halo Universe. There were also rumors floating around the internet last April that Bungie’s next game would require a subscription due to their partnership with Activision.
As soon as we have concrete details on Bungie’s “next big thing” we will be sure to bring them to you.
